Welcome to the winter 2002-2003 edition of our newsletter!
I would like to dedicate this edition to our friend and fellow contractor,
Mike Dresser. Mike recently moved to Oceanside, CA, and left his carpentry
business in Kansas City to start a new career. Mike and his wife, Gayla,
lived in Kansas City for nearly 12 years. Gayla has used us on numerous
occasions thorough the years as her baking experiments guinea pigs.
They are avid KU basketball and Chiefs fans. Mike was originally from
southern California, and served in the Army and Air Force in Vietnam.
He worked with us as a sub-contractor on various landscape projects
throughout our first seven years in business. He specialized in carpentry
work, yet his skills allowed him to do almost everything. You could
find him doing plumbing, electrical, dry wall, painting, setting tile,
hanging light fixtures, etc. He assisted us with numerous projects,
and he built several custom decks and arbors as per our designs.
His quality of work and construction exceeded my expectations and those
of many of our clients. I was so pleased with his work that I hired
him to build my own personal deck and fence, and also to finish my basement.
I often joke that my house may be destroyed someday by a tornado, but
that my deck will still be standing. Nate Helland, our Project Coordinator,
just had his basement finished by Mike.
As I look back, I am amazed at the number of projects that he has completed
for us and for our clients. Some of these projects include working for
the following people
perhaps you are one of them:
Dr. Steinbrecher - installed new water spigot on deck
Mr. & Mrs. Ahrens - installed plumbing for an outdoor
shower
Dr. & Mrs. Murphy - installed large multi-level deck
Mr. Clark & Mrs. Hubble - re-built deck and installed
arbor
Mr. & Mrs. Thornton - built hot tub stairs
Mr. & Mrs. Marquardt - mounted landscape lighting transformers
Mr. & Mrs. Henderson - repaired deck damage from a fallen
tree
Mr. & Mrs. White - rebuilt/repaired screened porch
Mr. & Mrs. Rolofson - built TV cabinet
Mr. & Mrs. Carter - various home repairs prior to moving
into new home
Mr. & Mrs. Dobbins - mounted landscape lighting transformers
Mr. Richardson - mounted landscape lighting transformers
We will miss being able to rely on Mike's expertise and experience,
and will continue to hope for his return to Kansas City. Nevertheless,
we wish him well in his new endeavors. Please help me to salute Mike's
hard work, diligence, ethics and especially his smile.
Thanks Mike, for all that you have done for us!
Sincerely, Troy, Jerry, Nate and Kristin
